If you are trying out for the Boys Golf Team you must have the following:
1. Golf Clubs. The high school and the golf course does NOT provide clubs nor do they rent them.
2. Golf Shoes. Golf shoes are recommended but are not required. You may wear nice sneakers.
3. Collared Shirt. All players MUST wear a collared shirt. No exceptions.

I would first like to thank all of you and your kids (athletes) who are interested in playing on the 2020 Steamboat Springs High School boy’s golf team. Entering my sixth year as the head coach, I am really excited to build on our strong successes. Due to the COVID situation, there are still a lot of questions in the air regarding the season and with that in mind, I am scheduling a Zoom meeting for those who are planning to tryout along with their parents on Thursday, July 30 at 5:00pm. I will be sending out the link for the meeting this weekend.
Tryouts are scheduled to start on Wednesday August 5th and I ask that all tryout participants be at Haymaker by 9am so I can review the week with them before we get started. Please keep in mind that things could change quickly as there could be a delay to the season. Unfortunately, we do run into situations where we are unable to keep all of the kids who tryout on the team so the team will consist of 20 total golfers.
To participate in tryouts, you must have completed the entire online registration process, which includes the participation fee and the physical. Those who do not make the team will receive their payment back in full. Please submit payment to Ann Brenner as soon as possible in order for an athlete to participate. Any athlete who does not file the proper paper work will not be allowed to try out.
As a reminder, there is the Steamboat Springs Junior City Championship Tournament begins this upcoming week. The tournament takes place on July 28-30 and involves the Steamboat Golf Club, Rollingstone Ranch and Haymaker Golf Course. I highly recommend the kids play as this would be a great way for the kids to get some tournament preparation before tryouts as they can be a little nerve racking for the players. To sign up, contact the golf shop at Haymaker Golf Course, 970 870 1846.I look forward to tryouts and meeting the many new faces that we have this year and saying hello to all of the returning players. It does look like many of the other fall sports will not be happening so if anyone knows of any other athletes that would like to tryout, please pass on my information to them so that they may contact me and I can add them to the list of tryout participants. If there is anyone on this list who will not be participating, please let me know and I will remove you from the list.
Best of luck to all the boys!
Thanks,
