Athletic Trainer's Information

An athletic trainer is a part of the healthcare team, and serves as a medical liaison for the student/athlete. He/She functions under the supervision of a medical director and is responsible for the initiation and coordination of caring for sports injuries. The athletic trainers' scope of practice includes but is not limited to: prevention, immediate care, evaluation, referral, management, return to play and emergency programs.

Stephanie Stefanelli is the certified athletic trainer at Steamboat Springs High School, and represents UCHealth-YVMC SportsMed. She has been at SSHS since 2008 and has lived in Steamboat since 2007. Prior to moving to Steamboat Springs, she obtained her bachelorette in athletic training and masters in exercise physiology degrees in western Pennsylvania. She is grateful to be able to work for these organizations, and live in such an amazing community with her husband and 2 year old son.
